Hello, my people, I hope you are doing well. Personally, I can’t complain. I’m in love with this city and I’m thankful for all the blessings and the people that I have in my life. Asheville has given me so much that there is no way for me not to love it.

Latinos living and loving Asheville. Luis Carlos Serapio, bilingual blogger for Descubre Asheville.

I can also appreciate the efforts of fellow Ashevillians to make Asheville more embracing of diversity. Today more than ever,  Latinos are gaining ground in making our presence known in the area.

BTW, did you realize that the main printed media in Asheville is now writing in Spanish? Yes, bilingualism is here to stay. Last week, The Citizen Times published at least two articles in Spanish. More on this in our Spanish version.

Ok, let’s talk about what’s coming this weekend. I promise you’re going to like it. My good friend Kris Kraft invited me to this event last year, and I was very impressed with the event as well as the folks I was able to meet. One of them, Natalie Migliarini, is a very cool blogger who travels the world writing about booze. I also met the master distiller from Casa Tequila Sauza, Fernando Avila, who came to the event directly from Guadalajara, Mexico (another Latino making his mark in Asheville).

                   Elixir Cocktail Competition – May 3, 2018

After four successful years of our one-day mixology event, ELIXIR, the decision was made to extend it for one week. With the growing number of regional distilleries, the event gains ground as one of the largest distilling events the East Coast has to offer!

                          Kentucky Derby Party – May 5, 2018

The Kentucky Derby is more than a horse race, it’s a long-standing tradition – and an excellent reason for a party!

                       Gospel Sunday Brunch – May 6, 2018

Cheers to the end of a successful cocktail week! This event will feature all the brunch cocktail staples (think Bloody Marys, mimosas, & Aperol Spritzes) and music by the Reggie Sullivan Band.
